Welcome to the Wyndley Badminton League Website !!
Wyndley Badminton League operates at Wyndley Leisure Centre in
Sutton Coldfield.
A Singles Mixed League is organised throughout the year which
involves playing a round robin division of seven, eight or nine
players each session. Each session is normally seven weeks i.e.
approx. one match a week.
The league is open to Ladies and Men of all standards, the only
requirement is that they can play Badminton and know the rules,
particularly the court layout used for singles matches.
Members contact the other players in their division to organise
a match at a mutually convenient time before the end of the
session. The majority of games are played in the evenings or at
weekends at Wyndley Leisure Centre.
At the end of each session, promotion, relegation and member
changes take place and a fresh league is published via email. This
arrangement means that players of a similar standard are in the
same division.
The membership subscription is £10 per year paid on joining the
League (Pro-Rata) and annually (1st January) thereafter.
You can join the League by completing the form on this site or
by post with a form obtained from the League Notice Board in the
main hall at Wyndley Leisure Centre. Please read the league rules
before doing so.
At the end of each session a Newsletter is distributed to all
players via email which contains divisional winners, new members,
last session results, Cup competition results/draws and other
Badminton related stories.
There are three tournaments organised for league members each
year as follows:
- Handicapped Singles Tournament in November.
- John York Trophy and Paul Whitehouse Plate, which are played
throughout the year culminating in a Finals day in October.
- Charity Doubles Tournament in May with all entry fees being
donated to the League's chosen charity, the Cancer Support Centre
in Sutton Coldfield.
